The 8C concept had carbon-fiber body panels over a mostly aluminum inner structure. On the production model expect a combination of steel and carbon fiber. The concept had handsome 20-inch alloy wheels. Expect the production car to also roll on 20s with 245/35 front and 285/35 rear rubber. In a convenience of corporate marriage, the 8C and other upcoming Alfas will be retailed and serviced in the U.S. through Maserati dealers. There aren't many of those, which might be an issue if you live far from one and Alfa reliability proves no better than in the old days. As for your chances of landing an 8C at this point, they're not good. However, scouring the Internet may well turn up--what else?--a few "flips" listed by greedy speculators at prices way above what Alfa is asking. Otherwise, Alfa-deprived Americans will have to wait for the more-affordable Brera and Spider.Sources say the first 8Cs are due here in late 2008, which means the 8C would almost certainly be tagged a 2009 model.
The media-preview invite list is bound to be short and "select," but we'll do what we can to wangle some seat time by early 2008.It hardly matters, with all the cars spoken for, and Alfa hasn't even confirmed a U.S. price, but most sources put the final tab at $230,000, plus tax, license and all that.Alfa Romeo 8C Front view
